A character portrait of Rikka Janice, a cosplayer from Malaysia who brings League of Legends characters to life through her own craft and imagination.
The story I wanted to tell wasn't about cosplay as a spectacle. It was about a person: what she loves, who she plays with, what the game actually means in the context of her life. League of Legends has millions of passionate players across Southeast Asia and most content about that world focuses on competition and performance. Rikka was something quieter. Someone who just genuinely loved it and expressed that love in her own way.
The goal was to spend enough time with her to find that, and then get out of the way.
